International Symposium on Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin 2010

2010 May: Berlin, Germany: This weekend an international assembly of distinguished diplomats, politicians, academics and economists as well as participants from dozens of different countries converged at the 2010 International Symposium on Cultural Diplomacy (ISCD) in Berlin, Germany. The Symposium locations included the German Parliament (Reichstag), the German Foreign Office, the European Commission House and the ICD House of Arts & Culture located at the famous Kurfürstendamm.

Around 180 participants from a wide range of nationalities had the chance to interact with the famous speakers by asking questions, taking part in debates and talking to them in an informally atmosphere during the various social activities such as the Carnival of Cultures, concerts and dinners. One of the highlights was the live concert of Marcia Barrett, lead singer of the world famous music group Boney M, that sold an estimated 150 billion records.

Among the many speakers at the 2010 ISCD were several former Presidents, Prime and First Ministers, NATO delegates and ambassadors.

Held annually in Berlin and founded by Mark C. Donfried, the ISCD is one of the world’s leading conferences in the fields of international relations and cultural studies.
